A recent New York Times report featured leaked internal documents detailing Meta's (formerly Facebook's) plans to develop a network of in-real-life (IRL) Meta stores throughout the U.S. According to the documents, it appears the company intends for the physical locations to be entirely dedicated to highlighting the brand's new metaverse-oriented products.
For example, shoppers could head to a physical Meta store to buy AR glasses, VR headsets, Portal devices, and other items tied directly to Meta and its new metaverse platform. By having a physical IRL presence, Meta hopes to connect consumers with the metaverse by making it more accessible while also highlighting its tangible value.
