Loon Transformed an Aircraft into a Connection Providing Drone

Loon, which is an organization known for creating internet balloons, was able to create an internet drone. The drone is named the ‘HAWK30’, and it was created using technology developed by Loon, however, some changes had to be made to allow the antenna to rotate. Fast rotation helps to ensure that the internet connection from the drone is both fast and stable. The drone is also able to provide LTE connections to mobile devices.

The internet drone is the result of a partnership with HAMPSMobile, which invested a sum of $125 million into Loon. The partnership began in April of 2019, and the two organizations will continue to look at ways to work together.
