The Intel World Open Will Run Ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games

Intel has announced that it will host the Intel World Open, which is an eSports competition that will run close to the 2020 Olympic games. The tournament will be one of the first strong attempts to pair eSports with the Olympic games. The Intel World Open will run from June 22 to June 24th, which is three days before the start of the Tokyo Olympics. During the Intel World Open, eSports players will compete in either Street Fighter V, or Rocket League, where the winners receive a $500,000 prize.

The tournament will follow the format of conventional Olympic competitions. In order to participate players will have to compete in a qualifier, which will take place next year. After that players will have to compete in a national qualifier, that will occur in March.
