If you have been an observant consumer, you may have noticed that there has been more room for differing selection on grocery store shelves because of shrinking product packages. We are in fact getting less for the same amount, which is a depressing thought considering companies are always pushing a ‘you’re getting more for less!’ mantra. Why this is the case is unclear, although there are some advantages to smaller packaging. If we can look past the damage it does to our wallets, consider the slimming effect it can have on our waistlines and the lighter footprint it leaves on the Earth.
