By leveraging AI to a magical effect, the Imaginary Soundscape web app pairs sounds to any uploaded image. Developed by a team of Japanese researchers, this incredible web app uses an AI mechanism that uses object recognition to identify images and then matches them to a dataset of over 52,000 sound files. Dubbed Imaginary Soundscape, the app showcases the ability of AI recognition and machine learning through repeated usage.
To use the web app, users will simply need to upload a picture and then allow the artificial intelligence to process the image. The system currently works best with artwork, photographs or human activity and abstract images, as memes and some other images confuse the machine. The audio pairings offered by the Imaginary Soundscape may not be perfect but through continued usage, the web app AI will be able to better identify objects and create more accurate pairings.
