Following in the footsteps of Uber and so many other on-demand services, Repixl is rebranding as a network of image editors. Based in the UK, the startup now offers professional image editing, which is a great option for brands and bloggers whose business is heavily impacted by the quality of visual content.
The Repixl global workforce is described as "skilled, scalable and on-demand," which is made possible through an "automated workflow management platform." The hands-on image editors service would be ideal for product photography. Currently, you can either sign up to the service for free, or become an editor yourself.
This is an interesting example of how photography can get a piece of the so-called 'gig economy' and shows how some companies are moving away from a model that competes on the basis of price alone.
