There's something very haunting but also very mesmerizing about the look of the minimalist Idol Lamp. The two designers that developed it have called it an emitter of mood lighting -- but this brings into question the type ambiance that one might be seeking to establish.
Perhaps you can picture yourself entering an ancient tomb, forcing aside a stone doorway and discovering something like this light fixture sitting centrally in an empty crypt. It's so beautiful and perplexing all at once with its concentrated stroke of illumination, escaping vertically and perfectly symmetrically down the center of the tall rectangular object.
Peter Toronyi and Eliza Mikus have designated the Idol Lamp as ideal for both indoor and outdoor placement. It would successfully merge contemporary style and mystery in either setting.
