Pinterest's How-to Pins Allow Users to Pair Illustration with Instruction
M — March 30, 2016 — Social Media
In order to make it simpler and more intuitive for consumers to share how-to tutorials, visual social media platform Pinterest is adding a feature called How-to Pins that allow users to couple illustrations with text-based instructions. The feature integrates itself well to the Pinterest vision board-style culture since a large portion of the images are tied to DIY and thus click-back tutorial links. The new feature brings the instructional aspect to the forefront pairing it side-by-side in importance to the visuals.
The How-to Pins is an intuitive feature added by Pinterest that will allow consumers to find and add step-by-step instruction for DIY projects. Each pin can be connected to a body of text for added description. Currently the feature is available to brand accounts, but hopefully the platform will expand its services to the average user.
