Cimbre Designs the House in Serra on a Secluded Site in a Park

— March 7, 2025 — Art & Design
Architecture firm Cimbre has designed a home dubbed the House in Serra in the rural parts of Portugal with the goal of creating a feeling that is both secluded and open simultaneously. It is in the Arrábida natural Park of Serra do Louroon. The home is defined by its concrete walls, the slightly enclosed patio space with circular perforations, and pyramidal zinc roof on top.

The founder of Cimbre, João Completo spoke to Dezeen about the structure: "The main concept of the house is the seemingly independent relationship between the exposed concrete walls and the four-pitched roof that rests upon them and the way it creates a nuanced interior-exterior connection. This provides a sense of both seclusion and openness while ensuring privacy from the street to the north and the adjacent plot to the west."
