The doors have opened on an extremely intimdating, yet fascinating experience as 'Hotel Alcatraz' arrives in Kings Cross, London. It's a PR stunt for UKTV’s entertainment channel, Watch -- the opening of Hotel Alcatraz coinciding with the launch of J.J. Abrams’ new drama series Alcatraz. Watch created the experience to offer a more intimate look into the lives of the series' character.
The four-cell residence has been modeled after San Francisco’s infamous Alcatraz prison -- a faithful reproduction of the penitentiary during its heyday, before closure in 1963. Each room measuring only 5ft by 9ft with exceptional attention to detail by the production team Helix 3D -- they even replicated the effect of walls being built with a plaster-planking technique.
Best of all, members of the public can stay in the hotel for free by booking in via LateRooms.com.
