Morbidly Named Yarns

These Homemade Yarns Are Luxe and Unusually Named

— July 8, 2016 — Art & Design
These homemade yarns come in beautiful colors and with strange names.

Created by Nicole and Cordula from Germany and sold on the etsy shop 'DyeForYarn,' these yarns are made from silk, cashmere, wool or a combination of the three. The homemade yarn comes in a variety of colors including solids as well as various blends that give off a multi-tinted effect. The most unique quality of these materials is not their color or quality, but the way they are named. The yarns have names such as "poisoned blood, rotten pistachio cream macaroon, rain in a graveyard, drunken acorn bloom and bat in a dark mood."

The yarns' unusual names make them stand out in a large market that provides the same or similar materials.
Trend Themes
1. Unconventional Naming - There is an opportunity for companies to differentiate their products in crowded markets by giving them unusual and memorable names.
2. Luxury Yarns - The growing popularity of luxury and designer yarns presents an opportunity for companies to create high-end products for discerning customers.
3. Color Variety - As customers continue to seek out unique and customizable products, there is an opportunity for companies to offer a wide variety of colors for yarns.
Industry Implications
1. Crafts and Hobbies - Companies in the crafts and hobbies industry can capitalize on the trend of high-end and customized yarns by offering unique and luxurious products.
2. Fashion and Apparel - As designers continue to push the boundaries of fashion and textile design, there is an opportunity for the fashion and apparel industry to incorporate unique and unconventional yarns into their collections.
3. E-commerce - The rise of e-commerce provides an opportunity for niche companies like DyeForYarn to gain wider exposure and reach a larger audience with their unconventional and high-quality products.
