Those who hit the links with a regular old wheel-based golf cart are so 2012. The future of golf course transportation is here in the form of a Bubba Watson's golf cart hovercraft. Watson, the reigning Master's champion in golf, teamed up with his sponsor Oakley and BW1 to produce this sweet hovercraft.

I was sold on this great idea in the first 10 seconds of the video, which demonstrates the hovercraft speedily passing by a normal golf cart on the way to the next tee. This is the way to hit the links in the future for several reasons. The fact that the hovercraft makes no contact with the ground means that the grass will be kept healthier by not being crushed by tires. Also, the hovercraft allows golfers to take shortcuts across water hazards, while a normal golf cart would sink to the bottom, doomed to a watery grave surrounded by forgotten golf balls.

It's a cool design that could very well usher in the first real fresh idea in golf cart design in decades.
