Since November of last year, Google has implemented its Heads Up safety feature in the Digital Wellbeing app. The safety feature is now available on Google Pixel 4a and works by alerting users to keep their heads up to avoid accidents from happening to distracted walkers.
The Heads Up safety feature has undergone minor modifications since its first release; the Heads Up setup screen warns Google Pixel users to “Use with caution. Heads Up doesn’t replace paying attention."
With the Heads Up safety feature, push notifications are sent to alert users when to keep their heads up from their phone while walking. Some additional safety features and settings can be found within the Reduce Interruptions section on the Google Pixel Digital Wellbeing app. Google is expected to expand the Heads Up safety feature to other Android devices.
