With Twitter and the NFL already in partnership to stream select NFL games, it makes sense that the companies would link up even more with the new hashtag emojis campaign. The campaign, set for release in the run up to the 2016 - 2017 NFL season, automatically adds emojis based on team logos to various team-specific hashtag phrases.

Twitter is an important medium for many millennial sports fans, as sports' temporally immediate action can be quickly communicated through Twitter's convenient short-form tweets. However, finding the right hashtag for a team has frustrated users in the past, splintering online conversations. The hashtag emojis will formalize that process to an extent, making it easier for fans around America to communicate with one another during important moments.
