Harmonikahusene is a residential development in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, designed by architecture studio EFFEKT. The project consists of two curved building volumes connected at ground level and defined by a repeating zigzag facade profile. This accordion-like geometry creates projecting bay windows that increase daylight access and support natural ventilation across compact apartment layouts. The exterior form responds to the surrounding urban fabric while introducing a distinct rhythmic surface along the street frontage.
The development provides housing primarily for students and young professionals and includes a mix of compact private units and shared communal facilities. Rooftop terraces, planted courtyards, and interior circulation spaces encourage resident interaction and shared use. Ground floor areas accommodate public-facing functions, including retail and café spaces. The project emphasizes spatial efficiency, daylight optimization, and social connectivity through both architectural form and program organization.
