South Korean ceramicist Haejin Lee created this surreal collection of unraveling human sculptures. The eerie figures present disfigured body parts and contorted faces.
One of the most notable sculptures is that of a human face whose uncanny resemblance to a real person is a result of intricate facial features and characteristics. However, the face is made of ceramic, which gives it a stone-like appearance. The whole face is then made to look like an ongoing piece of ribbon that is unrelenting inch by inch. The eyes are falling to the sides as the nose begins to slowly follow. This unique use of ceramics is whimsical and captivating for art fans.
Haejin Lee owns a newly opened studio in Vancouver, where she specializes in tableware designs with hints of both modernity and simplicity.
