The Guinness Pint Emoji Celebrates St. Patrick's Day

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, popular Irish stout brand Guinness & Co. has put together an emoji of the classic Guinness pint glass. The brand is aiming to have the emoji be accepted into the iOS emoji keyboard for fans of the dark ale to use. The company is arguing that the beer deserves its own emoticon because there are only pale-colored beer emojis in the keyboard to-date.

The Guinness emoji is a simple illustration featuring a tall pint glass filled with dark brown ale and a frothy head. Along with the emoji, the brand has put together a open letter for consumers prompting them to tweet, "I want more beer variety on my keyboard. Add a #DarkBeer emoji, @Unicode. #Stoutmoji." The campaign aims to make the beer emoji a part of the standard keyboard for consumers to use well past St. Patrick's Day.
