Michel Bussien's Growing Chair Surrounds People With Nature

Furniture designs like the Growing Chair would constantly remind people of the natural world in which they live. Since most of the time people are surrounded by brick walls and concrete streets, the Growing Chair brings a thriving touch of nature into homes and offices. More artistic than practical, it is as thought-provoking as it is aesthetically pleasing.

Created by Michel Bussien, the Growing Chair is part of The Nature Manifesto exhibit. He postulates that “we have to accept that we and everything we create are part of nature,” and “to move further we need to incorporate the living matter that surrounds us.”

The Growing Chair is made out of plastic that encases a willow tree growing from each leg with Russian vines that are wrapped throughout.
