Bjarke Ingels Group is currently designing a 65-storey glass tower that features a ribbon of green terraces around the outside. The new design represents a growing shift towards mixed-use developments that include additional green space.
The new building is called The Spiral and it is slated for construction at 66 Hudson Boulevard. The building will complement the mixed-used development at Hudson Yards, which consists of both urban buildings and small parks. The Spiral will draw on both historical and contemporary deign styles by combining the classic ziggurat silhouette with the slender proportions characteristic of modern skyscrapers. What truly sets the building apart is the ribbon of green terraces that wrap around the building's exterior. The terraces provide residents with additional outdoor space while also giving the building a visually captivating design.
