Rare Material Timepieces

Two Versions of the Grande Seconde Off Feature Incredibly Rare Materials

Jaquet Droz is no stranger to luxury watches with innovative materials but the latest variations of its Grande Seconde Off-Centered timepiece feature dials constructed from meteorite and three-billion-year-old stromatolite. The use of these materials gives the timepieces an incredibly distinct look, which is combined with exceptional craftsmanship from skilled hands.

The meteorite versions of the Grande Seconde Off begin with tracking down the correct fragments of material that are large enough to work with. The fragments then undergo exclusive cutting techniques that turn the raw, rare material into the gorgeous finished dials. The meteorite versions of this watch will be limited to 88 pieces and will come in varying sizes.

The stromatolite versions of the Grande Seconde Off are sourced from fossilized sedimentary rock that are biogenic. This means the dials feature material dating back 3.5 billion years and may even contain living components. Much like the meteorite models, these stromatolite timepieces will be available in varying sizes and in limited amounts.
