Gordon & MacPhail has collaborated with American architect Jeanne Gang to design a limited-edition decanter for what will become "the world’s oldest single malt Scotch whisky." Scheduled for release on October 2, 2025, the 85-year-old single malt from the Glenlivet Distillery will be presented in just 125 decanters.
Originally laid down on "February 3, 1940, by George Urquhart and his father John, the whisky was conceived as a long-term project to be appreciated by future generations." Gang’s design, centered on the concept of 'Artistry in Oak,' incorporates architectural influences and natural materials, aiming to complement the historical significance of the release.
The first decanter will be auctioned by Christie’s New York in November 2025, with proceeds supporting American Forests, a U.S. conservation nonprofit. The project brings together whisky craftsmanship and architectural design, marking a milestone in limited-edition spirits.
