AI Business-Call Assistants

Google Tests Gemini's Call for Me on Pixel 11

Google is testing Gemini's 'Call for Me,' an AI phone feature that can call businesses on your behalf using your own number and a live transcript to keep you in the loop. It is starting as a small U.S. experiment for Pixel 11 owners with a Gemini subscription, bringing agent-style task handling to routine customer-service calls.

Unlike earlier Google calling tools that mostly handled hold time or menu navigation, this version can pass along personal details you approve, allowing it to push a task further without sounding like a detached bot. That matters when the goal is specific, such as checking whether a product is in stock or moving an appointment, because the assistant can bridge the gap between simple automation and an actual errand.

For consumers, this means routine calls to local businesses can happen in the background while they retain control over their identity and outcomes. That raises the bar for mobile assistants: answering questions is no longer enough when rivals can start finishing errands by voice.
