Browser AI Assistants

The Gemini for Chrome is an AI Assistant Integrated into Google's Browser

The Gemini for Chrome feature has launched in the UK, bringing Google's AI assistant directly into the Chrome browser through an "Ask Gemini" button. The integration can summarize webpages, compare information across multiple open tabs, and answer questions using the content and URLs of shared tabs after user permission is granted. The assistant also connects with Google services including Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube, allowing users to complete tasks such as drafting emails, checking locations, and creating calendar events without leaving the browser.

The browser integration includes access to Google's Nano Banana image-generation model from the Chrome sidebar. Users can enable voice and text interactions while browsing and manage whether open tabs are shared with the assistant for contextual responses. The feature was previously limited to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers before expanding to additional markets.
