America's got a gas crisis on its hands, and if we don't pay attention now, it's going to literally grind everyone to a halt. The human addiction to oil has led people to burn through over 53 million barrels of fuel every single day: over a third of that in the United States.
Paradoxically, many don't seem to realize that North America is in such a terrible gas crisis because the government supports highway construction instead of public transit, and gas is cheaper in America than most other countries. Much cheaper, in fact: America bottoms out at $2.72 below the 60-country average. Other countries aren't so lucky: can you imagine chucking out nearly $10 per gallon like residents of Turkey?
