California-based confectioners Mr. Holmes Bakehouse and Smitten Ice Cream teamed up to for a signature frozen croissant treat last summer. Fusing the bakery's artisan cruffins -- desserts that are a combination between traditional muffins and croissants -- with Smitten Ice Cream's signature frozen desserts, the creation satisfies one's sweet-tooth and is Instagram-friendly as an added bonus.
In addition to following a classic cronut recipe which incorporates the best of both worlds, the limited time offering by Mr. Holmes Bakehouse and Smitten Ice Cream also transformed cronut batter into an edible bowl. This edible bowl was infused with a tasty ice cream filling that was freshly churned, adding a fun alternative to classic custard.
This hybrid dessert follows in the footsteps of other combined treats like the widely popular cronut, and other variations like Mr. Holmes Bakehouse's very own sushi-infused croissants.
