Dolce and Gabbana recently teamed up with Smeg to produce a hand-painted refrigerator known as Frigoifero d’Arte. With scenes depicting pivotal moments in Italian history, the luxurious appliance is likely to appeal to history buffs.
The Frigoifero d’Arte, which translates into the 'Refrigerator of Art,' is a high-end appliance designed by Dolce and Gabbana. The fridge itself features hand-painted illustrations created by local artists. Each scene represents a different aspect of Sicilian history, including famous battle scenes, marionette theaters and horse-drawn carriage rides. There are only 100 of the fridges available and each one is priced at a whopping $33,000.
While the designer fridges may not come cheap, they represent a unique intersection between home appliances and the world of fine art.
