Stone Island and artist Jamal Cyrus have collaborated on a limited-edition T-shirt collection released for Frieze Los Angeles 2026, the annual contemporary art fair held at the Santa Monica Airport from February 26 through March 1, 2026. The collaboration extends the longstanding partnership between Stone Island and Frieze’s “Focus” platform, which highlights emerging galleries and creative projects within the fair.
The collection consists of two distinct designs: one worn by event staff and another available for purchase at the Frieze Los Angeles Publications & Merch shop at Santa Monica Airport and at Stone Island’s La Brea store. These garment-dyed T-shirts feature imagery derived from Cyrus’s 2025 work Archipelagos in a Negro Spiritual, translated into a wearable digital print with a raised texture that reflects the materiality of the original piece.
Cyrus’s approach incorporates materials such as bleached denim, cotton thread, batting, burlap, and barnacles in the original artwork, exploring layered material narratives.
