Freezer-Aisle Noodle Bowls

Crafty Ramen Brings Chef-Made Frozen Bowls to 4,200 U.S. Stores

Crafty Ramen is bringing frozen ramen bowls to more than 4,200 U.S. stores this fall, giving freezer-aisle shoppers a restaurant-style meal from the Canadian brand founded by Michelin-trained chef Jared Ferrall and Miki. Unlike instant ramen, each bowl brings the noodles, broth, and toppings together in one frozen meal, so buyers skip powdered seasoning and added water.

A six- to eight-minute warm-up on the stovetop or in the microwave gets the bowls ready for weeknight dinners. Scratch-made noodles, produced on machines imported from Japan, aim for more chew than instant packs usually deliver. 'Spicy Pork Miso' and 'Brisket Birria' show how the line spans both familiar ramen notes and mash-up flavors.

The move into 4,200 U.S. stores turns frozen ramen into a mainstream category instead of a specialty find. By packing a full bowl instead of a noodle base, Crafty Ramen widens what shoppers can expect from freezer-aisle comfort food.
