Boxy Bush-Like Furniture

The Free Port Cabinet is Pleasantly Playful and Eclectic

The Free Port cabinet looks like a boxy bush. The leg supports have a branch-like aesthetic while the body is as round and shapely as a shrub. Arranged in a pixelated pattern that leaves the occasional negative space, the storage unit is pleasantly playful.

Designed by Martí Guixé, who splits his time between Barcelona and Berlin, the Free Port cabinet was created for Spanish company BD Barcelona. Made predominantly out of MDF including veneer of various types of wood with different lacquer finishes, the legs are crafted out of aluminum and steel. Comprised of an eclectic set of cubbies, the Free Port cabinet is an ambiguous design that can be used as an entertainment center, bookshelf and wine bar.
