Fintech company Wise continues to expand its convenience-focused features with the launch of flexible eSIM data plans alongside a cross-border QR code payment feature.
Wise's flexible eSIM data plans include standard regional plans covering more than 150 destinations. In select markets such as the UK, EEA, US, Canada, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand, the offering allows customers to build their own plans by choosing an exact data allowance and number of days. A one-time installation means the eSIM does not need to be re-downloaded for each trip. Activation of the flexible eSIM data plans occurs only when connected to a supported network at the destination, and Wise states it will refund unused data plans.
On the payments side, the app aggregates QR payment schemes from five continents, including PayNow in Singapore, QR Ph in the Philippines, DuitNow in Malaysia, Pix in Brazil, PromptPay in Thailand, Swiss QR-bill, and Qvik in Hungary. Through a partnership with Alipay+, Wise's feature enables QR payments for eligible users in the Chinese mainland and more than 50 other destinations without requiring a local bank card, mobile number, or separate app.
