FlavorID is a new tool launched by FoodPairing to help consumers create a customized "flavor passport" based on the aromatic profiles of over 2,500 ingredients. This profile combines consumer’s behavior — such as preferences, food experiences, and genetic predispositions — to create hyper-personalized recipes, menu recommendations, and meal plans that cater to the individual's health goals and dietary restrictions. To accomplish this feat, the brand partnered with 3rd party apps including smart kitchen appliances, e-grocery services, and Health apps, among others, to offer this service free-of-charge to consumers.
The food industry has recently seen a spike in the use of personal data for meal planning services, and we can expect more brands to leverage "food fingerprints" to create hyper-focused meal options for consumers.
