Female astronauts aren’t unheard of, but Flavia Furtos renders her lady space explorers with such panache that you’d think they would make better fashion models than NASA cadets. From their vibrant orange, red and platinum locks to their crimson-colored lips, Furtos' intergalactic women are each radiantly beautiful.
Curiously, Furtos renders somewhat out-of-date space apparel, which looks more in line with aviation wear than garbs ready for journeying through space, but fidelity to realism isn’t really important in fantasy illustrating.
Flavia Furtos is an Oradea, Romania-based illustrator and most of her creations have some sort of preoccupation with space. Her geeky side is also exemplified in her painting of Rose Tyler from the hit science fiction series Dr. Who and her multiple renderings of Sherlock Holmes from the BBC show.
