It broke the heart of Flavia Carvalho to be told the abuse story behind a scar that a client wanted to cover with a tattoo, which prompted the development of "A Pele da Flor" project. The project, which has been in process for the past two years, sees Carvalho giving tattoos for victims of domestic abuse or that have had a mastectomy done free of charge.
Beautiful yet bittersweet to admire, the tattoos help victims to reclaim their sense of self by putting abuse or trying times behind them. Each piece that Carvalho completes reveals yet another story of abuse that shines a brighter light on the very palpable issue of domestic abuse and how rampant it remains around the world.
