For those who are still looking for last-minute Independence Day treats, Sunburst Pie Co. is offering edible flag pies that double as patriotic decorations. Made with a combination of colorful fruits, the pies are a tasty way to celebrate the 4th of July.
Late in June, Sunburst Pie Co. owner Jay McConville began whipping up a batch of edible flag pies. To make each creation, he used a combination of blueberries, strawberries and peaches or blueberries and strawberry rhubarb. He then decorated the top of each pie with strips of pie crust and tiny pie crust stars to recreate the look of the iconic American flag.
Available until July 4th, the flag pies offer a fun alternative to a classic slice of all-American apple pie.
