Brilliant idea here from Cleveland, Ohio. They got various artists to paint fire hydrants as part of a project called 'Sparx in the City' and I think the results totally rock. I'd love to see more projects like this!
Sparx in the City is an organisation which sponsors downtown arts events with the aim of stimulating street life and economic activity.
Blooming brilliant all around.
Implications - Consumers respond well to grassroots projects that involve their city because it reinvigorates something that is already personal and familiar to them. Companies looking to garner similar consumer empathy and passion should look to freshen up commonplace items which the general public is frequently exposed to.
