Renovated Helsinki Events Venue

Arkkitehdit NRT Renovates the Finlandia Hall in Helsinki

Local architecture firm Arkkitehdit NRT has taken on a renovation project of the Finlandia Hall. The team adds new spaces to the events venue in Helsinki, which was first designed by Finnish designer and architect Alvar Aalto in 1971. The team at Arkkitehdit NRT restored the hall, which reopens tomorrow in a sense that retains the original design while creating new areas that cater to other services, making it more accessible to the public.

The managing director of Arkkitehdit NRT, Teemu Tuomi shared with Dezeen, "The reason to start the renovation was to renew all technical installations in the building. Also, the facade marble panels were curved and weakened, so they needed to be changed. When the renovation project was decided to start, it opened a possibility to plan and execute many spatial and functional changes that the building's user needed."
