The figurative object sculptures of Daniel Arsham provokes thoughts in both creative and mysterious ways. While his past work explored modern technology as archaic relics, his most recent creations explore something much more abstract and interpretive. Common objects including chairs, mirrors and even escalators are partially shrouded in what appears to be flowing white sheets -- but is actually porcelain material.
Playing with the realm of imagination and impossibility, these figurative object sculptures create the idea of an alternate universe. It's as though the artist is allow people to look past a veil in order to glimpse something magical. Simple and stark, the figurative object sculptures nevertheless stand out in a way that is hard not to appreciate or contemplate over.
