Although the Field lamp may look like it was inspired by table tennis paddle rackets, it was actually inspired by a simple drawing of movement. Although not full of movement itself since it takes on a rather stiff pose, the lines engraved into each lamp does denote a feeling of direction.
Created by French designer Arnaud Lapierre, the Field lamp is simple and sophisticated, with a feminine playfulness that is emphasized by the pastel palette used for each design. Each Field lamp emits a soft, white light that shines upwards from its slim base, diffusing along the expanse of the thin, flat shade surface. Looking at each Field lamp, I feel they would fit nicely into an open and airy home.
The Field lamp won the 2011 Audi Talents Awards prize.
