Manual Gearbox Revivals

Ferrari Brought Back the Manual Shift With the Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale

Ferrari unveiled the 'Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale,' a limited-edition special series featuring a new Manuale By-Wire system that reimagines the analog gear-shifting experience with redesigned manual shift and clutch pedals. The system transforms the physicality of mechanical gear changes into electronic signals while preserving the analog feel, drawing on cross-functional expertise, including Ferrari's Hypersail nautical by-wire program.

Drivers can shift manually through the first six gears and reverse or switch to automatic mode, with the naturally aspirated V12's 9,500 rpm rev range enhancing the true feel of each gear change.

Limited to just 1,499 units, with a nod to the removal of Ferrari's first V12 engine, the 12Cilindri Manuale is proof that the most advanced engineering Ferrari has to offer can still be built in service of a stick shift.
