Facebook's Vanish Mode has been launched as consumers demand more privacy controls from the social media site. There are numerous reasons for someone to want to keep their messages private, but deleting threads after every conversation doesn't seem like an appealing alternative. The success of Snapchat opened the door for a lot of social media brands, as they realized temporary or disappearing messages are popular among users.
Now, those on Facebook Messanger can choose to opt-in to Vanish Mode, which automatically deletes messaging history after a message has been read, or a user has left the thread. What's more, is that users will be notified is a screenshot has been taken, further emphasizing privacy and control.
