The Evolution of Hollywood's Creativity is Explained in Numbers

— September 24, 2012 — Pop Culture
'Short of the Week' has comprised an infographic on the evolution of Hollywood's creativity by exploiting numerous facts about today's film industry. In 1981 there were seven major original films released, two sequels and one adaption. Fast forward to 2011 and Hollywood produced eight blockbuster sequels and two adaptions. In 2011 there were no original films produced which were in the top ten grossing films of the year. The only original film in 2011 which made it in the top 15 grossing films of the year was Bridesmaids, which came in fourteenth place.

This infographic states the lack of creativity and innovation of high grossing films in modern day. This lack of creative thought divulges what audiences want to see --the sequels of previously high grossing films. This thought leaves ingenious production by the wayside.
Trend Themes
1. Evolution of Hollywood's Creativity - Highlighting the lack of creative thought in modern day, the trend suggests that innovative production is sidelined for the sequels of high-grossing films.
2. Infographics on Film Industry - Providing a comprehensive analysis of the past and present of Hollywood's creativity through creative visual representations, the trend makes a mark in the content media industry.
3. Demand for Original Films - As a result of the lack of original films in the top grossing list, there is a surge in audience demand for unique and creative productions.
Industry Implications
1. Film Production Industry - With the decline of original films in the top grossing list, new opportunities exist to innovate and produce original films that resonate with audiences.
2. Content Visualizations Industry - The use of infographics as a tool to analyze and display the evolution of the film industry suggests the emergence of new business opportunities in the content media industry.
3. Market Research Industry - Audience demand for original films highlights the importance of market research in the film industry to identify the emerging trends and meet the needs of the consumers.
