London-Based designer and artist Evelin Kasikov is most known for her CMYK cross-stitching technique and handmade printing process that she developed during her M.A. studies at Central St. Martin’s.
Kasikov says that her technique “transforms printing technology into handmade form.” Through a conscious redefinition of what usually comes to mind when thinking of embroidery, for example, femininity and decoration, Evelin Kasikov and her craft are changing that rigid mentality one stitch at a time.
Implications - Products made with everyday materials appeal to those shoppers who look to make purchases they can relate to. In order for a company to increase their popularity on the market, they could come out with more items that feature relatable materials.
