James Jean introduces his new 'Eternal Journey' exhibit in Seoul's LOTTE Museum, celebrating the prolific artist's 500 works. These pieces include video art, installations, sculptures, and even large-scale paintings, spotlighting the light sculptures that he unveiled on Instagram ahead of the opening.
His signature work highlights mythical subjects and it adorns a plethora of paneling components in the life-size artwork. Within the structure is a light source that brings the entire piece to life, illuminating the visuals that are exposed at the exterior frames. LOTTE explains that “as an Asian-American, Jean has consistently explored the dual nature of his identity through his works, [...] his past or his present as experienced through the lens of Eastern and Western culture.” The Eternal Journey exhibition is set to open on April 1st and run until September 1st.
