Verizon recently entered into a three-year deal in order to provide 5G service to the Legends champions series, which is an esports league in North America. The esports league has players compete in the ‘League of Legends’ game. The agreement dictates that Verizon will provide service for the game this summer, and the network provider will also look for more ways to work in conjunction with the League Champions Series.
Acting as the service provider for the esports league will allow the network to showcase its capabilities for professional gamers. Gaming focused consumers who watch the league, maybe enticed by the performance of Verizon’s 5G coverage, and could switch in the future.
