Mangrove and Humanscale have teamed up to create a forward-thinking ergonomic lounge in the heart of Jeju City. South Korea’s Jeju Island, long celebrated for its volcanic landscapes and vacation culture, is fast becoming a hub for global digital nomads. With a forthcoming digital nomad visa planned for 2025, the island is embracing the rise of the “workation,” blending business and leisure in new ways.
At the center of this evolution is Mangrove Jeju City, a newly opened hospitality property designed around flexible, future-ready workspaces. In collaboration with ergonomic design leader Humanscale, Mangrove has reimagined “third spaces” where productivity and relaxation seamlessly coexist. The result is a next-gen Work Lounge framed by sweeping ocean views and anchored by ergonomic zones: the Focus Block for deep concentration, the Stand Block for dynamic postures, and the Open Block for collaboration.
This approach extends throughout the property. Meeting rooms like “Lab 8” and “Lab 20” integrate advanced hybrid work technology with sustainable furnishings, while guest rooms feature chairs that naturally adapt to diverse body types and working styles.

Mangrove’s “Healthy Immersion” concept integrates reused materials—such as marble flooring from the original building and carpets made from recycled plastics, while Humanscale’s Liberty Ocean Chairs, crafted from discarded fishing nets, reinforce the vision of pairing comfort with environmental responsibility.
