Popular ridesharing service Uber is testing a new emergency hotline for riders and drivers in need. Since Uber began operating, there have been a few emergency situations involving both drivers and their passengers. Now the company is trying to address these kinds of incidents by giving Uber users a better way to communicate.

The new emergency hotline is designed to put Uber drivers or passengers in contact with one of two centers of excellence run by the company. According to Uber, the hotline will function as a 'Critical Safety Response Line' that can be used any time of day. When users call 1-800-353-UBER, they will be put in contact with a support representative who can assist them in emergency situations. However, the company stresses that the hotline is not a replacement for 911, but rather a way to remedy situations that require immediate attention.

The new hotline provides a way for Uber users to get in contact with the company over urgent matters that cannot wait for an email response.
