Buildings might be named after celebrated individuals on a regular bases, but Elenberg Fraser has taken this a step further by designing a skyscraper after a particular pop star: Beyonce Knowles. Located at 134 Spencer Street in Melbourne, Australia, it's a curvaceous design that recalls "the twists and turns of a woman dancing in black cloth." As a more direct reference, Elenberg Fraser accompanies the press release with a link to the Beyoncé 'Ghost' video.
Dubbed Premier Tower, the Elenberg Fraser project is a unique one. In addition to providing 660 apartments, a 160-room hotel and a number of retail stores, people will be able to enjoy a new sculptural landmark that rises as a glinting icon in the Australian city center. Perhaps Beyonce will be on hand to christen it when completed.
