Electric Mail Delivery Vehicles

The Royal Mail Will Be Trailing 9 Zero Emission Vehicles in London

In an effort to create a more sustainable future, The Royal Mail will trial 9 electric delivery vehicles throughout the UK in partnership with Oxfordshire-based 'Arrival,' an automotive technology company. Mail delivery vehicles are required to travel at a slow pace while making multiple stops a day, making them the ideal candidate for a more environmentally friendly electric upgrade. The new vehicles are constructed with a lightweight composite and complete with custom built electronics and motors which aid in a cost reduction of up to 50%.

The prevalence of electric automobiles in London's heavily trafficked downtown core will greatly reduce both noise and environmental pollution, ultimately benefiting the busy metropolitan. The Royal Mail functions with a fleet of about 49,000 vehicles on the road, making the switch to electric a huge step toward sustainability.
