UPS is Testing its 'eQuad' Last-Mile Delivery Solution

UPS announced it has begun testing the 'eQuad' delivery service in New York City. The eQuad service leverages a fleet of compact electric four-wheel micro-mobility vehicles that are suited for last-mile delivery. The eQuad bikes have a windshield, an impressive storage compartment on the back side, and look more like a small delivery truck than an e-bike.
According to UPS, the eQuad e-bikes are legally allowed to enter the bike lane in the United States as they meet size and speed guidelines. The eQuad service will alleviate environmental strain caused by delivery trucks as well as reduce traffic congestion in areas that have received the service. The eQuad pilot in New York City boasts a fleet of over 400 e-bikes that are expected to deliver over 35 million packages in one year alone.
