Modern and abstract, the Drops Series is comprised of wall-mounted sculptures that can be likened to a few things. While some may seem a group of pebbles, others may see a giant interpretation of a petri dish, complete with molecules and everything. Whatever the case may be, the Drops Series explores the use of different materials in a contemporary way.
Created by Canadian artist David Drumlin, the Drops Series is full of texture. Not only do the 'pebbles' jut out in a three dimensional manner, their surface is far from smooth, which is atypical for such objects. The designer writes, "The Drops Series is a reaction to the glorification of material perfection in contemporary life. As a result, the series seeks to employ the emotive power of texture, as well as prompting us to attach abstract meaning to the presence of the forms."
